Guy’s main area of expertise lies in hydraulic modelling, and since joining JBA he has completed a number of technical modelling studies. He has experience in the following: 1D/2D linking; dam and defence breaches; 1D & 2D model auditing and options appraisals. He is an advanced user of GIS and a range of 1D and 2D modelling software, including ISIS, HEC-RAS, ESTRY, TUFLOW, SMS and INFOWORKS. Guy also teaches JBA’s “Introduction to TUFLOW” and “Introduction to ISIS-TUFLOW” courses. He also assisted with the development and delivery of a bespoke three day training course “1D / 2D Model QA Training” for EA Kent & Sussex staff. Prior to joining JBA Guy completed his BSc in Physical Geography and MSc in Environmental Modelling & Forecasting at Lancaster University. The focus of his Master’s thesis involved evaluating the dynamic properties of a simple one dimension upwelling-diffusion global energy balance model.
