Line 37:
Every cross section is being divided into vertical parallel channels, where the bounds are midway in between the XZ points. Where outer parts of the channel are being made inactive (e.g. with Manning’s n -1, for more information see [[TUFLOW_1D_Channels_and_Hydraulic_Structures#How_do_negative_.22M.22.2C_.22N.22_and_.22R.22_values_deactivate_1D_cross-sections.3F | here]]) TUFLOW will place vertical walls at the midway point between the XZ points where the cross-section is inactive. The height limit is the highest active XZ point.
The below example shows the calculated top storage width in red. In blue is the full cross section, orange is the active part of the channel, green is highest elevation of the not ignoredactive part of the channel and grey are the vertical bounds.
