This file contains a raster based on the sampled Sub-Grid Sampling (SGS) elevations. This file is only produced when running a model with SGS that also has high-resolution outputs. If a model has high-resolution output set up, the _DEM_Z_HR will automatically be output as a check file instead of the _DEM_Zmin.
Output grid formats currently supported by TUFLOW include GeoTIFF grids (.tif), binary grids (.flt) and ESRI ASCII grid format (.asc). The preferred format can be set in the TUFLOW Control File (.tcf) using: Grid Format == HRTIF | HRFLT | HRASC. All of these formats are widely recognised (QGIS, MapInfo, ArcMap, SMS etc). The asc_to_asc utility can be used to convert between ASC and TIF (in both directions).
Note: The .tcf command 'Map Output Interval' will also have to be set. For example, HRTIF Map Output Interval == 0 will output just the maximums using the HRTIF format.
As with the other high-resolution outputs, the resolution of the _DEM_Z_HR check file is determined based on the SGS sampled distance. For example, if the SGS Sample Target Distance == 0.5, the DEM_Z_HR will be at 0.5m resolution.
This raster is a north-south aligned raster and so minor interpolation is required to display the TUFLOW model on this grid.
