|message_desc=Model unstable. The model has gone unstable in the 2D domain. A number of [[TUFLOW_Message_2991|WARNING 2991]] messages may be issued prior to ERROR 2998. There are a varieties of reasons that a TUFLOW model may go unstable in the 2D, these can include:<br>
* Poor topography data
* Inappropriate timestep
* Poorly configured external boundary
* Poorly configured 1D/2D model interface

The first occurrence of these WARNING messages is the likely location of the source of the problem. Carry out the suggestions as listed for [[TUFLOW_Message_2991|WARNING 2991]] to resolve the instability.
