Introduction

QGIS is used to view the depth, velocity and water levels with the TUFLOW Viewer 2. For viewing of the 2D map results, see Module 1.

Method

Inspect depth, velocity and water level outputs:

  1. Open the Map Outputs and Time Series results, either:
    • Within the QGIS Browser Panel drag the following layers into the QGIS workspace, or
    • Module_10\TUFLOW\results\M10_5m_003.xmdf > loads the map output mesh results
    • In File Explorer, navigate to the files above and drag and drop them into the QGIS workspace.
  2. In the 'Layer' Panel, click on M10_5m_003 and select the 'Depth' and 'Vector Velocity' output type in the 'Datasets' tab.
  3. Use the Time Series Plot tool to see the time series of the flow at the location of the piping failure and dam failure. The time series shows the initial piping failure, followed by the dam failure:

Conclusion

  • The depth, velocity and flow were inspected over time at the location of the piping and dam failure.
  • For further functionality, see TUFLOW Viewer 2 documentation.
