Tutorial M06 002 Results QGIS update V2 draft
Introduction
QGIS is used to view the cumulative rainfall, rainfall rate and material rainfall losses with the TUFLOW Viewer V2. For viewing of the 2D map results, see Module 1.
Method
Inspect cumulative rainfall, rainfall rate and loss outputs:
- Open the Map Outputs and Plot Output results, either:
- Within the QGIS Browser Panel drag the following layers into the QGIS workspace, or
- Module_06\TUFLOW\results\M06_5m_002.xmdf > loads the map output mesh results
- Module_06\TUFLOW\results\plot\M06_5m_002.tpc > loads the time series output results
- In File Explorer, navigate to the files above and drag and drop them into the QGIS workspace.
- Open an additional file from within the QGIS Browser Panel, drag the following layer into the QGIS workspace:
- Module_06\TUFLOW\model\gis\M06_5m_002.gpkg\2d_mat_M01_001_R > loads the model materials layer.
- Select the M06_5m_002 file in the Layers panel, and go to the 'Layer Styling' panel. One additional output type appears in the 'Datasets' tab:
- Cum. Mat. Loss: the total rainfall losses applied as initial and continuing losses specified in the materials file.
- Use the Time Series Plot tool
icon and select the Data Type 'cum.mat.loss' to see cumulative material loss time series. Use the 'Draw Tool' to select various locations. Notice the variation due to the assigned materials ID.
Note: the current time can be viewed by right clicking into the plot window and ticking on 'Show current time'.
- Use the Time Series Plot tool to see the time series of the cumulative rainfall, rainfall rate and losses at a point. Notice the results vary spatially due to the 2d_rf polygons and 2d_mat regions.
Note: the cumulative material loss can be viewed on the secondary axis by right clicking the plot line in the plot window and ticking on 'Move to secondary axis'.
Conclusion
- The cumulative rainfall, rainfall rate and rainfall material losses derived from rainfall polygons were inspected with the TUFLOW Viewer V2.
- For further functionality, see TUFLOW Viewer documentation.
