Introduction

QGIS is used to view the cumulative rainfall, rainfall rate and material rainfall losses with the TUFLOW Viewer V2. For viewing of the 2D map results, see Module 1.

Method

Inspect cumulative rainfall and rainfall rate outputs:

  1. Open the Plot Output results, by either:
    • Within the QGIS Browser Panel drag the following layers into the QGIS workspace, or
    • Module_06\TUFLOW\results\M06_5m_003.xmdf > loads the map output mesh results (used for viewing purposes)
    • Module_06\TUFLOW\results\plot\M06_5m_003.tpc > loads the plot output results
    • In File Explorer, navigate to the files above and drag and drop them into the QGIS workspace.
  2. Select the M06_5m_003 file in the Layers panel and click on the 'TUFLOW Viewer Plot Window' icon. The plot widget will open.
  3. Select the Data Types 'rf cumulative' (cumulative rainfall) and 'rf rate' (rainfall rate) and use the 'Draw tool' to select a location. Notice they vary spatially based on the distance to the points within the 2d_rf point file:

Conclusion

  • The cumulative rainfall and rainfall rate derived from gridded rainfall were inspected with the TUFLOW Viewer V2.
  • For further functionality, see TUFLOW Viewer documentation.
