Tool Description

The colours used for the majority of the plotting is randomly chosen when TUFLOW Viewer is first opened. The colours are checked for similarities so that identical colours, or very similar colours, are not chosen. It's possible to get TUFLOW Viewer to re-generate this colour selection via Settings >> Reset Plotting Colours. This option can also be used reset user chosen colours.

User Defined Plotting Styles

The user can define the plotting lines/points by selecting Settings >> Customize or by selecting Customize in the plotting toolbar. Customize can also be found by right-clicking the plot window.

If the secondary axis is in use, then the user will be given an option as to which axis to customise: Primary Axis or Secondary Axis. If there isn't a secondary axis, then this step will be skipped it will go straight to the Primary Axis customise options. Note: If a curtain plot is present, this dialog will also appear. When updating the curtain plot, please use 'Primary Axis'. See section further below.

To customise the lines/points, select the Curves tab at the top. Here the user can customise the colour, line style, marker style, and the legend name. The different line/point available can be changed at the top by using the dropdown box. There isn't currently a way to navigate to the other axis (e.g. to go from the primary axis options to the secondary axis options). The user will need to close the options dialog and re-select Customize.

Once a style is selected by the user, TUFLOW Viewer will remember this selection and re-apply the style whenever this type is plotted again. For example, if the user updates the style for 'Water Level' in the time series plot, then this will retained every time 'Water Level' is plotted. However it will not be applied if, for example, From Map Multi is used since TUFLOW Viewer actually calls these 'Water Level Loc <n>' (this is done otherwise every water level location will have the same style applied). The styles will also not be transferred to the other plot types (styles used for 'water level' in the time series plot will not be applied to 'water level' in the cross-section plot). User defined styles can be reset by using Settings >> Reset Plotting Colours.

Customising Curtain Plot

When updating a curtain plot, the user should use Primary Axis (an axis type with the same name as the curtain type e.g. 'Velocity' will be available do not use this (it won't break anything, the style won't be retained however). In the Primary Axis options dialog, there should be a tab at the top Images, etc. The user can update the colour ramp, the min/max, and the label. It is also possible to add a custom colour ramp (see relevant link at the bottom of the page).
