Guy’s main area of expertise lies in hydraulic modelling, and since joining JBA he has completed a number of technical modelling studies. He has experience in the following: 1D/2D linking; dam and defence breaches; 1D & 2D model auditing and options appraisals. He is an advanced user of GIS and a range of 1D and 2D modelling software, including ISIS, HEC-RAS, ESTRY, TUFLOW, SMS and INFOWORKS. Guy also teaches JBA’s “Introduction to TUFLOW” and “Introduction to ISIS-TUFLOW” courses. He also assisted with the development and delivery of a bespoke three day training course “1D / 2D Model QA Training” for EA Kent & Sussex staff. In 2009 Guy was the runner up in the CiWEM Next Generations competition for his modelling work on the Reservoir Inundation Modelling and Mapping Trial study.

Prior to joining JBA Guy completed his BSc in Physical Geography and MSc in Environmental Modelling & Forecasting at Lancaster University. The focus of his Master’s thesis involved evaluating the dynamic properties of a simple one dimension upwelling-diffusion global energy balance model. Whilst at university Guy also completed a short research project which looked at the evolution of vegetation on the geomorphic and hydraulic characteristics of fluvial sedimentary bars.
