This page lists the system requirements for the current version of TUFLOW Classic/HPC hydraulic modelling software.
Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
---|---|---|
Operating System | Windows 10 (64-bit)
Windows Server 2016 |
Any 64-bit Microsoft Windows version that is still supported by Microsoft, currently Windows 10, 11, Server 2016, Server 2019, and server 2022. [1]
Follow the organisation's IT policies and recommendations and select a version with good driver support for the current hardware. |
CPU | 64-bit x86 (x64)[2], single core | x64, with 2 or more cores; the TUFLOW features in the model that cannot execute on a GPU may drive selecting a more capable CPU. |
System RAM | < 1GB[3] | Typically, 16GB or more, depending on the memory requirements of the model during the TUFLOW model startup phase.[4] |
GPU | N/A for TUFLOW Classic
NVIDIA GPU for TUFLOW HPC on GPU |
Recent NVIDIA GPU under manufacturer support, with sufficient memory to run larger typical models without exceeding its capacity. |
Disk Space | < 200MB | Typically, > 500GB. The model inputs' and outputs' size, as well as the workflow will determine the required disk space.[5] Generally, >20% of free space should be maintained for optimal performance. |
Display | N/A | TUFLOW is a console application, entirely text based. Codemeter, the licensing software, can be managed through text or a web interface. [6] |
Internet Connectivity | N/A for local or network licences on premises
Minimal for Cloud Direct[7] |
Traffic to the WIBU Cloud service is minimal for Cloud Direct licences. When using a Cloud Server licence, only the network server requires a live internet connection. |
Notes
- ↑ TUFLOW can run on Windows versions that are currently supported by Microsoft. TUFLOW might still run on older versions, or on emulation like Wine, but TUFLOW Support may be unable to assist with issues resulting from doing so.
- ↑ TUFLOW may work in x64 emulation on a system with a CPU with the ARM architecture, but it is not tested on this type of hardware.
- ↑ The Operating System is likely to determine the actual minimum amount of RAM.
- ↑ In many cases the amount of memory available on the GPU limits the maximum model size, and the application may need between 4x and 6x that amount in system CPU RAM, depending on what TUFLOW features are used.
- ↑ General recommendation is writing results to local storage for performance and reliability reasons, but it is common to move results to a network location after a run or even to write them there directly.
- ↑ Applications to process or inspect results may have requirements for display, but these are never integral to running TUFLOW and may be run from other systems.
- ↑ Bandwidth and latency are hardly a factor, but availability is important. Simulations will pause before retrying when a required cloud connection is not available.
