George is an environmental engineer specialising in flood risk management, hydrometry (hydrometric site design + project management), 3D visualisation, reservoir inundation, survey management, and the design, selection and implementation of flood alleviation schemes. George has worked on a wide variety of Environment Agency commissions including CFMPs, SFRA’s, flood and hazard mapping, standard of protection assessments and hydrometric reviews and installations. George also led the National Reservoir Inundation Mapping project for the EA, working across five different JBA offices and managing the mapping and data of 205 reservoir failure scenarios to a challenging national programme. This required careful coordination of dataset production, data security and licensing, software development, quality assurance and client handover. George joined JBA from Capita Symonds where he had been leading the design of a 2km flood alleviation scheme for the city of Hereford; this involved managing a cross office team covering stakeholder negotiations, environmental impact assessment, 2D hydraulic modelling, site investigation and detailed design.
Particular areas of expertise: Flood Risk Management, hydrometry, flood defence design, reservoir inundation mapping, strategy development, IT planning, 1D & 2D numerical modelling
