QGIS Useful Plugins

Introduction

There are a large number of python plugins for QGIS. Some of these are useful for TUFLOW modelling, the following list is a collection of plugins used by a number of QGIS users. The list is by no means complete or comprehensive, if have a suggestion please let us know so we can add it to the list.

For different versions the install method may differ, you preferred search engine should be able to help you out here! As these are plugins created by external users, we are not responsible for maintenance, security or suitability of these plugins!

AutoTrace Digitising and Editing An editing tool that allows users to trace geometry based on existing features. Repository install
CadTools Digitising and Editing Provides tools for performing CAD-style operations. Repository install
Dxf2Shp Convertor File Conversion Converts DXF files to SHP format. Switch it on in Plugins >> Manage Plugins...
Georeferencer GDAL Raster and Terrain Georeferences raster datasets using GDAL. Switch it on in Plugins >> Manage Plugins...
GdalTools Raster and Terrain Integrates GDAL tools into QGIS. Repository install
Grass Plugin Vector and Spatial Analysis Integrates GRASS GIS tools into QGIS. ?

MultiQml Visualisation and Sampling Applies a single QML style to multiple raster or vector layers. Repository install
New Memory Layer Data and Tables Creates an empty temporary memory layer. Repository install
Numerical Vertex Edit Digitising and Editing Edits the x and y coordinates of a vertex numerically. Repository install
Numerical Digitize Digitising and Editing Digitises features using keyboard-entered coordinates. Repository install
Profile Tool Visualisation and Sampling Plots a terrain profile. Repository install
Profile from line Visualisation and Sampling Samples raster values along vector lines. Repository install
Point sampling tool Visualisation and Sampling Samples raster values at point locations. This is largely obsolete with the TUFLOW Read Grid commands. Repository install

Table Manager Data and Tables Manages the structure of attribute tables. Repository install
Trace Digitize Digitising and Editing Digitises features by tracing against a background snapping layer. Repository install. Enable “Show all plugins, even those marked as experimental” in the options.
Value Tool Visualisation and Sampling Displays raster values from the current mouse position in a table or plot. Repository install
XY Tools Data and Tables Manages tabular x and y data and can open spreadsheet files, including LibreOffice, OpenOffice and Excel formats. Repository install
