=Introduction=
The native non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) form of TUFLOW uses Geographic Information System (GIS) files for its spatial inputs. TUFLOW requires specific GIS file formats for all of its GIS inputs, corresponding to specific TUFLOW commands or(and functions). ToBecause accommodate forof this requirement, the first task in any modelling project requires the writing of template (empty) GIS files (as demonstrated in [[Tutorial_Module01#Project_Initialisation|Tutorial Module 1]]). TheThis processpage howof tothe writeTUFLOW Wiki provides a reference list of the template (empty) GIS files, isthe demonstratedTUFLOW incommand [[Tutorial_Module01#Project_Initialisation|Tutorialassociated Modulewith 1]]the GIS file, and a basic description of the file/command's function.<br>
