There are a number of options available for University education and research purposes:
- Teach TUFLOW using the licence free TUFLOW tutorials.
- Teach TUFLOW or conduct research using your own dataset via TUFLOW's free education (demo) mode.
- Purchase a research licence.
The following information is not applicable to commercial use of TUFLOW. If you are using TUFLOW for commercial purposes please refer to the Local Licence New User Guide or Network Licence New User Guide.
TUFLOW Tutorial Models
Educators are welcome to use the licence free TUFLOW tutorial models and documentation as an education dataset. The benefit of this approach is that there will be no licencing complications for the students. Students will be able to run simulations on any computer at any time. Visit TUFLOW Wiki Self-teach Tutorials.
Educators are welcome to create course content from this dataset. Alternatively, the TUFLOW Team have previously created 10 weeks worth of university teaching material, including 2 weeks worth of assessment, using the tutorial dataset for the guided modelling tasks. If you would like assistance creating similar teaching material please email training@tuflow.com.
TUFLOW's Free Education (Demo) Mode
Universities are welcome to use TUFLOW's licence free Demo mode for research or education purposes. The free Demo option is included within the standard TUFLOW executable. It is fully enabled, will function in any geographic region, though has the following limits:
- 100,000 total cells and 30,000 active (potentially flooded) cells
- 100 1D channels
- There can only be one CPU 2D domain (M2D is not supported). HPC Quadtree is supported.
- A simulation time of 10 minutes.
- CPU and GPU compute are supported.
The free Demo mode is called using the TUFLOW Control File (TCF) command: Demo Model == ON
Educators who would like to teach TUFLOW can create course content that works within the limits of the Demo mode. If you would like assistance creating teaching material using this simulation mode please email training@tuflow.com.
TUFLOW Research Licence
Unrestricted academic licences can be purchased by Universities for non-commercial research and educational use. A 50% discount is applied to licence purchases, annual software upgrades and support fees. Refer to page B-5 of the various currency pricelists available at https://www.tuflow.com/pricing/. Please email sales@tuflow.com.
