The main difference between a single wide culvert and multiple culverts with the same total width is the wetted perimeter of the two configurations. The multiple culverts scenario has slightly larger wetted perimeter due to the vertical walls between the culverts. This increases the friction in the downstream controlled regimes. Since the friction loss is usually small compared to the entry and exit losses, the difference in the calculated hydraulic behaviour is not expected to be significant.
